This piece is richly encrusted with the red and white chalk of those remarkable cliffs. The coarse matter in the foreground is Carr stone...coarser than the chalk. This began in 2011 in a portrait format. I returned with the piece along the same shoreline over time. It is a constantly mobile bit of coast so it seemed absolutely appropriate to 'over-write' radically according to the conditions. Here they are having found comfortable niches in the fishing nets.
