This piece is richly encrusted with the red and white chalk of those remarkable cliffs. I'm sitting at a distance to them at low tide. The sea-smoothed boulders in the foreground are largely Carr stone...coarser than the chalk. The binding medium here is acrylic...I've added blue and yellow artist pigments...everything else was found on location. I worked with this piece…
A round Iceland bus ticket in August- September 1983 made it possible to jump on and off at will and pitch the tent- recording as I went. I have a few very similar prints...so do contact me if you would like to see. Postage not included in price.

Made on location in a lively breeze...strong contre jour. A cream tinted Ingres paper upon which I could add the bright white of the breaking waves. Unframed. The cost of postage is not included in this price.
This is the moment when an arc of starling becomes funnel- and they seem to be sucked into the reed beds where they commence to chatter and organise themselves. Encrusted with marsh and shingle. This is currently unframed. The cost of postage is not included in the price.

This image is framed. Ferry Bridge is just to the top right of the image...Portland is still dark with lights twinkling. Dawn is growing out of a crimson slice cut out of a twilight sky... This began in 2011 in a portrait format. I returned with the piece along the same shoreline over time. It is a constantly mobile bit of coast so it seemed absolutely appropriate to 'over-write' radically according to the conditions. The surface has heavily impasto and deeply scored...material has been removed as well as added. Unframed currently but displayed on a…
This piece is framed. It was painted in March 2020 just before travel restrictions were put in place. A bright and breezy day with fragments of chalk from rabbit scrapes to make into pigment. The cost of postage is not included in this price.
In March 2020 this was one of the last site visits I made before travel was denied. I sat up on the hillside just above the stream of visitors as the morning sun behind the arch created intense contre jour... a remarkable green/turquoise reflection shimmered in the water. Chalk fragments were scattered around me...they are often tossed out by rabbits.…
Eype beach looking west has some extravagant sweeps and dips...at first light the sun just touches the headlands...it doesn't last long. The rest of the coast is in night shadow. Diptych. Handmade cotton rag paper. This is currently displayed unframed- suspended on wooden batons - this allows the piece to find its own shape and to have no glass interference...do…
