This began in 2011 in a portrait format. I returned with the piece along the same shoreline over time. It is a constantly mobile bit of coast so it seemed absolutely appropriate to 'over-write' radically according to the conditions. Watercolour. 43x31cm Going onto the beach in the relative cool pre dawn I was met with playful frisky dogs...as soon as the sun rose they set about sleeping within reach of their supply of food. Here they are having found comfortable niches in the fishing nets.
Dungy Moon Dust was made on the beach at the base of Dungy Head, Lulworth, Dorset. This lies to the eastern end of St Oswald's Bay. In March 2020 this was one of the last site visits I made before travel was denied. I sat up on the hillside just above the stream of visitors as the morning sun behind the arch created intense contre jour... a remarkable green/turquoise reflection shimmered in the water.
